About The Child Advocacy Center
The Child Advocacy Center at BestSelf (CAC) is an innovative, comprehensive center offering safety, support and a healing place for children and families affected by abuse in Erie County. The CAC incorporates Erie County’s Multi-Disciplinary Team, (MDT), which has representation from law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, child protective services, medical professionals, mental health counselors and victim advocates, and provides comprehensive services in a child-friendly setting to children who are traumatized by sexual abuse and physical abuse. Erie County has some of the highest rates for reported child abuse in New York State – over 5,000 reported cases annually, and with current state of the Child Advocacy Center at BestSelf, our specially-trained professionals can assist less than 1/3 of the children who need our help.
